Yeah that that might just be the biggest negative to not getting a Gillis-type POHO.

There's certainly some warts in his transaction history but acquiring Kuemper and Raanta gave Arizona one of the top goalie tandems in the league for a little while. He drafted/acquired Keller, Schmaltz, and Chychrun and gave them all big contract extensions that all turned out to be pretty...

Wouldn't be shocked if that's not the case anymore. Word was generally that the Devils ownership always liked Hamilton more than Fitzgerald did. So I'd expect they try to mend that relationship now.

We need some puck-moving defencemen. With all due respect to Chadwick/Thrun/Villeneuve we can't go into the season hoping they can pull it off for a full season. Free agent options are, of course, pretty bad. I wouldn't hate throwing money at Darren Raddysh but we're gonna have to hope the guy...

He wouldn't be my first choice but I'd be ok with Chayka as GM provided Gillis was POHO above him. His inexperience would certainly make me pretty hesitant to give him full control though.

R1: Philadelphia Flyers (M3) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (M2)

Crosby with 0 goals and 1 assist through 3 games probably isn't the performance the Pens were hoping for when they delayed their rebuild just to get him back into the playoffs.

Can they take Derek Clancey with him?

Signing Gostisbehere and acquiring Miller from the Rangers both seem to have been big wins for him too. Maybe not Mike Reilly as much but with Walker too that's 3 puck-moving defencemen that the Leafs desperately needed. Not to keep twisting the knife but the Leafs paid more for Carlo than the...

A few things that come to mind: 1) One thing that jumps out at me scrolling through his transaction history is that he hasn't been afraid of making big moves even in his short time as a GM. The whole Rantanen affair maybe didn't exactly work out the way Carolina hoped it would, but he took a...

Jim Nill would have probably been my one true dream choice, so with him off the table his 2nd in command with Dallas certainly gets a bit of a leg-up for me compared to other AGMs. Might also help having Dallas' former head amateur scout here too already.

Yeah it's hard to imagine that Gillis isn't already hired. I can't see MLSE giving full reigns to the other names currently being thrown around without a more veteran guy above them.

The Leafs might get accused of leaning in a little too hard on Gillis connections but Malhotra is generally considered one of the top up and coming head coaches so honestly I'd probably prefer him to any retreads.

I wish people just ignored him like hockey media is seemingly doing. Dude was supposed to be the next Bob McKenzie at TSN which he left allegedly on his own will to go work for a website that was mostly known for posting line-up combinations and starting goalies and now he's left that too (again...
