I would argue that Campbell was ‘meh’ at best - if anything, the team played a strong defensive game in front of him. He never really stole a game and would give up just terrible goals throughout the game. I never felt, while watching a Campbell game, that he was rock solid back there.

The leafs had some of their best defensive years under Dubas and clearly he tried to upgrade the defence every year. To call those non nhl calibre defences is ridiculous.
