If Max’s last name was anything other than Domi, I feel like he’d be the ire of most leafs fans. I really don’t understand how he gets a pass and someone like Kerfoot was hated. I’d honestly trade Domi straight up for Kerfoot at this point.

I’m not quite sure where you’re getting that from because there’s almost no way Benoit watched any of Lefebvre’s career seeing as how he retired when Benoit was 4 years old. Their connection would have been as a coach when he was in San Diego. Not sure that would make him his idol.

Paying up front doesn’t do anything to alleviate the cap hit. He’d still carry a 3+ mil cap hit. What it does is take the real money financial burden off the receiving team so they only have to pay a fraction of what’s owed to him.

I like how Sundin doesn’t make the list. Yushkevich didn’t play in the playoffs that year (and I looooved that guy). Domi, Corson and Belak combined for 3 goals across 54 games between them that playoff run. Even Tucker only had 4 total goals in 17 games.

Yeah being not a nice fan base has really helped the flyers get a cup in the last 50 years.

The issue with this is that whoever this player would be for the leafs would end up getting suspended. Which has been proven when Bunting was here.

I don’t agree with this at all. Phaneuf was what he was when he came to the leafs. That’s how the leafs got him for practically nothing. This has absolutely nothing to do with him getting the captaincy.

The greatest team of all time, Boston, just lost to the 0-5 predators 4-0. The 2025 Stanley cup champions, Edmonton, are 2-4-1. Stinkers happen. I don’t take this game as an indicator of anything.
