I hated Keith Tkachuk when he played. Just a miserable, whining, poor sport suck. And, kudos to him I guess, he managed to create 2 of NHL's biggest cheap shot, sucks to follow in his legacy. It's a shame Florida has such regulated birth control laws...

Maybe I'm mis-remembering, but I seem to recall that when Minten was a Leaf, the scouting reports/writeups etc. were all somewhat tepid- like he was seen as a smart, strong player but with limited upside and predicted to be a bottom-six centre. And Carlo was a 28-year old, potential top-4 RHD...

I think this is also being overlooked- Since 2019, in the playoffs Carolina was 1-8 against Florida, 1-8 against Boston and 1-4 against Tampa. All these teams we have, comparably, fared quite a bit better against, yet ultimately succumbed to. Makes me wonder how far Toronto might have gone had...

This Marner thing started up again because Bill Berg's post joking about the absurdity of the media was mis-construed as being anti-Marner. I'm not sure why people are so sensitive about him, on either "side" of the argument.

Ignoring the fact that his AVG was about .230 in May and currently under .200 in June, I'm not sure that's the answer. Right now he's a barely average fielding first baseman with single digit power and awful running who can only hit singles. And for the cherry on top, he's making $36 million

Any of Pinango, Sanchez, Valenzuela or Lukes deserves to be in the lineup before Springer. And the fact that Springer is not only in the lineup, but hitting first, is absolutely bonkers. (Sadly, each of those aformentioned players could take Vladdy's spot too).

In over 200 at bats Vlad has 3 home runs. Man, something needs to change here. He isn't adjusting or changing his approach, can't touch the ball anywhere near the barrel of the bat...Imagine if Matthews was sitting at 3 goals after 30 games or so? Media would be going BONKERS

Sanchez has 2 more home runs, the same amount of RBI and almost exactly same OPS as Vladdy-in 40 LESS at bats... Which is to say he certainly isn't anything special (his fielding is awful) but it's a decent bat, particularly when compared to the rest of the abysmal offense this year.

Vlad 0-3 today. Anemic numbers still. 2 home runs? A low .700 OPS heavily relied on pounded groundball singles? It's really unbelievable how atrocious he can be for long stretches. Bizarre.
