Couldn't find a thread for this guy yet,

According to TSN?s Bob McKenzie, Boston, Buffalo, Edmonton, New Jersey, the Rangers, Philadelphia, Vancouver and Toronto are the shortlist of teams interested in the 27-year-old.

BOS, BUF, EDM, NJD, NYR, PHI, TOR, VAN are amongst teams with high levels of interest in Brown. #TradeCentre #TSN

Linked to pretty much every team in the NHL obviously. Another guy I would have loved on the Leafs and is apparently and very likely at least Toronto and New Yorks Plan B to Nash. Should he actually be plan A ?

This deadline has gotten alot busier than I had anticipated it would anyway.

EDIT: I was actually surprised to hear his name mentioned on TSN last night, I don't really see why LA would want to trade him? Clearing cap space? I plead ignorance to all things not Leafs related. Brown is a good young player and the team captain, you trade that guy in the middle of a playoff race? ....

Looks like his availability may be no longer (if it ever was) ...

IF LAK are no longer considering trading Dustin Brown, as @FriedgeHNIC tweeted, I can most certainly assure you they were. #TradeCentre #tsn

Things change. Over and over and over again. Publicity can be a factor. Or change of strategy. Or optics. Deadline is 3 p.m. ET Monday. #tsn

Elliotte Friedman via Bob McKenzie says that he believes Brown was being shopped to a small number of teams and it got leaked to the media, and are now trying to back track/damage control.

Final thought on Brown: Think he was available to a small number of teams (at least two). It got out and snowballed on them. If one of those teams steps up, could it still happen? That's the question.

I have never been sold on Brown, I looked at his tsn page last night and nothing really jumps out at me, he seems like our average 2nd line forward, maybe even a 3rd liner on a good team :s

Can anyone who has seen him play often, expand why Brown is sought after and would be worth trading anything significant for :s

Leadership, physical play, scoring, can play either wing... All the goodies that made Burke think highly enough of him to select him to a very good 2010 Olympic team.

He's only a modest goal scorer, but his gritty physical play along the boards and in the corners should help open up space for our smaller quick forwards. It's what's missing from our offence - we lose every puck battle there.  Also, general toughness and leadership.  He's more about intangibles than measurable stats, which is why if you haven't seen him play you wouldn't get all hot and bothered about his availability.

However, I wish people would stop the madness...he is NOT worth Schenn.  If Burkie can get him for Aulie or one of the 5,000 puck-moving d-men in the system, fine, but don't give up on one of the few stay-at-home, shutdown D that we actually have.

Agree on the Schenn part.

I think Schenn would have to be included in any package for Brown. I've read somewhere the Kings have a lot of interest in him.

ah ok, so he may be perfect to play along side Kessel, in terms of opening up some ice for him and having a physical presence as well?

Not really though, because he plays in the same position as Kessel.

He might be equally effective on either side actually but the point is moot... You wouldn't bump Lupul off that line for Brown... at least I wouldn't (for now.)

This is exactly the type of player we need if we can get Bernier thrown into the deal is makes sense, now who we give up I'm not so sure but a 1st round pick, Schenn, Kadri and Gustavsson would get this deal done but it would be close.
