According to Mapleleafs.com, this years version of Behind the Draft airs at 6:00pm tomorrow on Leafs TV. Hopefully it gets put onto Youtube or something shortly after so those of us without the channel can watch it. For those who haven't heard of it, the show follows around the team during the draft and provides a fair amount of behind the scenes information.

Here's the links for the previous years shows:

A good precursor to the rookie tournament. (not for the casual fan) I'll be watching Biggs and Percy a little more closely. I love Burke's reply to Percy when he asked if there was a hat with his sweater. "No, we don't do hats. We want the picture and we want your face. We'll give you a hat, but not here" :)

I found it boring.

I haven't watched it yet, but I did hear it wasn't as good as the previous two. Burke got in a bit of trouble last year when the cameras caught him talking about a potential Canucks trade, so maybe they had to be a bit more conservative with what they showed.

Biggs isn't on the roster here: http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=585936&navid=DL|TOR|home

Correct. He's taking part of the University of Miami's training camp right now.

Yeah, that last one wasn't as interesting as previous years but I ended up watching the whole thing on youtube.

Does anyone know which player Nonis, Fletch and Burke were talking about when they mentioned an 80pt player at around 7:00mins in? I think its the 2010 Draft one.

Also, not digging the 2011 one as much. There's not enough talk amongst themselves and thought into what they're going to do and want to do.

There was some speculation that it was Marc Savard, but they also spoke about the players character issues and while there may have been some problems in Atlanta I think he's matured quite a bit in Boston. Ribeiro could be another guess.

I wondered about that too. During the conversation Fletcher brings up the notion of whether acquiring the player goes against the policy of bringing in character players and Burke said it did.

He also said they played against his team in the playoffs which, if that's Anaheim, leaves me guessing either Heatley or Ribeiro.

From what Burke said about the playoffs I doubt it was Savard.

It was definitely Ribeiro. On the draft day of that year Darren Dreger said an unnamed GM told him the Stars were shopping Ribeiro to anyone who would listen.

Glad they didnt go after him. Depends on the price but I despise him as a player.

I despise him as a person but would gladly accept him as a player.

How do you defend him though? After everything I said about how the 'Nyucks behaved during the playoffs... loathe is the word, can't help it. Personally I think that was one of the best pieces of internal dialogue I've seen from their level ( assuming of course it wasn't 'written' for camera ;) ) well it jives with my bent so, biased who, me? ...but whatever, it was interesting.

He's cleaned up his game a lot in Dallas. His image is still tarnished, obviously, from behaving like a dirtbag when he was younger, but at this point he's really not much different than any other player.

I would also have loved to have a 1-2 punch of Ribeiro-Grabovski down the middle, to rub in the faces of Habs fans.

I guess all I can say is that the book wasn't closed on him when that video was taken, not sure it ever should be.

Is it just me.. or does anyone else experience minor internal siesures while listening to LTV broadcaster John Abbott speak? :o
