Marlies Training Camp

Now that the Leafs have their roster and taxi squad set, what players besides the training camp cuts will be attending the Marlies camp? Have any players from last season's Marlies/Growlers rosters whose contracts expired been re-signed? Have there been any free agents signings other than the 4 players on loan to the Wichita Thunder?

This should help, assuming you know who is new/returning. The Wichita loans (e.g. Hoefenmayer, McKenna as the big ticket AHL signings at the end of last season) are not included.

Riley McCourt, Rourke Chartier, and Scott Sabourin are the new signings from October.

I assume the perennial invitation to Xavier Simoneau will come through again if the QMJHL is down for the count.

Who's Scott Sabourin?

Played for Ottawa, a tweener between the NHL/AHL and now a Marlie, more of AHL fodder,  had a brush with Matthews some time back.

The Matthews brush is what I was playing around with.  I still chuckle when I think of it.

Saborin is a tough, older player who can fight in the heavyweight class in this current NHL.  Meaning that he won't beat Reaves even though he would be willing to tussle but he would be better than Matt Martin, etc.  Has basically no NHL level offensive skill to speak of so I suspect that Toronto got him to be one of the sheriffs for the Marlie kids.

He sustained a horrific head injury trying to throw a hit against Backes in Boston.  I felt bad for Backes who has battled head injuries in his career as he was so distraught he couldn't finish the game.

I have never checked with you why you call yourself Highlander...

First generation Scots, my siblings were born in the Highlands and have been there many times. My wife and are actually thinking of moving there. Although an English lass, she has lived there in the past.

I was wondering that.  My mom was a Scot from the Cameron clan but my dad was a Britton hence my handle.  My last name has been changed over time and now seems stablized as 'Britton' from 'Britain' just 4 generations ago.    My great grandfather's older siblings were Britain but his mother changed his last name to Britton in the late 1800s to spite her husband.

I now have 2 generations continuing the name.  I don't feel that old yet though...

Interesting, I am a Shaw, the progenitor of our clan was Shaw Mor Macintosh..you can read the story about the "Battle of the North Inch of Perth".  Interesting the way they settled differences between the clans.

Might be something, but costs us next to nothing

PPP about Tristan Lennox;

Tristan Lennox is an 18-year-old native of Mississauga, who has been playing for the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL. He is a draft-eligible prospect for the 2021 draft, as his late birthday made him ineligible for last summer?s draft, but still makes him old enough for the AHL now.

Lennox?s most recent outing outside the OHL was three games for Canada at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup where he had a save % of .951 (I think that?s good). He was also invited to Canada?s WJC selection camp, which is unusual for a goalie that young.

He is currently ranked 53rd by Dobber Prospects and 71st by Future Considerations. NHL Central Scouting also ranks him as a ?player to watch? and projects him to go in the second to third round.

Woll actually isn't on the Taxi Squad. Hutchinson is on Emergency Loan according to CapFriendly. I guess it will change eventually seeing Campbell is on LTIR. Engvall is on Emergency Loan as well as he is listed on the active roster today.

Woll's been on the taxi squad since Campbell went down. Teams are required to have 3 goalies on the active roster+TS at all times.

Recalled to the taxi squad Jan 26.

Campbell was on the normal IR after his injury had been evaluated (though, looks like the team never made an announcement that, for whatever reason). Once it became better for the team's cap position, he was shifted to LTIR.
