Says here he's looking at a return the the NHL?  His kid plays hockey in the GTHL?

It wasn't to long ago when he was the Leafs "only top 6 forward". The rebuild should of probably started then...

I mean, I know it's selfish but I would be about 100% more pumped about the upcoming Leafs season if they signed him.

lol... he could be our captain!

I mean, I've said that nothing could ever make me buy a jersey again but...

Same, was definitely one of my favourite Leafs during his time here. Although he likely wouldn't be very good so the novelty of it would probably wear off pretty quickly.

You may be underestimating how bad this season is going to be.

Hard to believe this was 8 years ago...so sad to see Belak at the beginning of the video and then being reminded that Travis Green had one last stint back then!?. And Sundin was still here...sigh. I know they were the most mediocre of times and it's so weird that I would have any fond memories at all but nostalgia can be weird like that.

But yes, I always liked Big Nik as well. Antropov 2015, make it happen Lou!  ;).

Di I remember Nik becoming a Canadian Citizen with the intention of living in Toronto after retirement?

Poni definitely became a citizen. Some people on the board at various points said Antro did as well but I could never find any confirmation.

I might be thinking of Poni.

Between 1992 (Convery) and 2008 (Schenn), Antropov is the only Leaf draft in the top 10.  (And that was 10th overall at that.)

Just in case this has been keeping anybody up at night, Lance Hornby confirmed that he's a Canadian citizen:

But Antropov has strong motivation to stay put in Canada. He has a home in Toronto, became a Canadian citizen during his years with the Leafs and his son, Danil, is playing for the local Marlboro minor midgets, coming up on his OHL draft year.

Alright, do it Dubas!

I remain unconvinced. Hornby may have confused Antro with Poni here the way others have.

A number of online sources say Antropov became a Canadian citizen.  A couple are pay-locked but here's one that isn't:

Nik Antropov became a Canadian citizen in May. A month later, he accepted a two-year extension worth US$4-million to remain a Maple Leaf.

His biography on Eliteprospects.com mentions it, as does his Wikipedia page.  A couple articles collected here from 2005 where he states his plans to become a Canadian citizen.

But has he formally changed his surname to Anrtropov?
