It's a sad day in this country, particularly if you love reading about amateur sport.
Long time Toronto Star journalist Randy Starkman has passed away due to pneumonia. He was 51.

Starkman did occasional Leafs coverage, and also co-authored Lindros' biography just before he turned pro. But his main focus was amateur sport. He covered 12 Olympic games.
On a personal level, I hadn't covered an event with him since the 2010 Clarkson Cup, but I'm thankful that I had gotten to know him as a colleague. Rest in peace, Randy.
