Knies has already played in a pair of games so he gets a sit tonight. Other than that, this is a NHL roster. Berube certainly isn't wasting time in pre-season so far.

edit: well full roster minus Matthews and Jarnkrok too.

It should be fun for a preseason game.

I certainly don't expect it on game 1 or game 10 or maybe not even at all this season but there's a scenario one day if Nylander sticks at C long-term that something like Tavares-Matthews-x, Knies-Nylander-x, x-Domi-Marner could potentially make sense.

I would think they would keep going with the Nylander/Domi combo for more than one preseason game? How about Nylander/Marner pairing? Nylander can continue to parent the "crying baby". Trigger warning.

Domi-Nylander is bad for both of them and for team success. I think Matthews-Domi, Nylander-Marner*, Pacioretty-Tavares combos crystalize the rest of the roster into its most effective form. But if Domi-Marner (I have doubts) actually works as well, then that's even better.

The 'stop crying, bro' comment was most likely directed to Matthews. We'll find out next week!

* blissfully manifesting a world where Marner teaches Nylander how to focus defensively the whole game, and Nylander teaches Marner how to shut out the noise and play/live head empty (for $7M AAV)
 
So taking out a guys leg with your stick isn't a trip simply because the guy doesn't fall
