Two preseason games left. Tonight's in Detroit, then Saturday in Toronto.

I would expect the Leafs to save their full line-up for the Saturday game so guessing we see more of the non-NHLers skating in this one.

No stars but a fair combination of AHLers, guys on the cusp, and a few legit NHLers.

Liljegren being in this group is perhaps the most intriguing, especially after seemingly being outside the top-6 defence group yesterday.

Cowan is about to play in his 5th straight preseason game. Robertson and Grebenkin are about to go 4-for-5.

Big question of course is will any of them play in the last one.
 
Jacob Quillan is also about to go 4-for-5 in preseason games this season. That could just be a case of the team needing centres in the line-up (especially with no Minten all preseason) but hopefully that also means he's having a good showing and making a good impression on the coaching staff.

Not sure which radio broadcast/podcast I heard recently - I think one out of Vancouver. But they were saying a number of teams were not playing their regulars any more than they had to due to due to the number of significant injuries (ie Doughty, Laine, etc)

Leafs were building a fair injury list themselves (Matthews, Nylander, Tavares, Jarnkrok, etc).
That may be a factor here.

I'm assuming Rifai-Myers and Webber-Niemla are looking more at potential AHL pairs right now.

Jarnkrok, Kampf, Lorentz, McMann, Nylander, Patches, Stolarz, Robertson, Myers hit the Leafs veteran quota so its definitely not a "must play a veteran scenario".

I'd rather not move Liljegren if we are trading someone to fit forwards under the cap but if he isn't going to play every night it seems like a waste of money.

Poor Liljegren... he was better than Reilly on PP for a hot minute last year.
 
It's too late for me but I think the last two games Cowan has looked a lot better

Not sure what the best course of action is in terms of his development.

He's too good for the OHL, and he might get bored and pick up some bad habits.
 
My takeaway from this game is that we are going to struggle to score fi we sit 90% of our lineup

Also I'm looking forward to not watching Sammy swim in net.  Stolarz and Woll are both calming goalies
 
Can I again throw out how stupid it is to play a back to back with travel to start the season.  What kind of nonsense scheduling is that
