Leo Komarov is surprisingly on the list. I don't believe he's ever come over for these in the past, but he'd definitely be the most mature player in the group. All of the prospects picked in the 2012 draft will be there, plus Ryan Rupert's twin brother Matt. Petter Granberg will also be present, although I'd still expect him to return to Sweden afterward to play the season there.

The most interesting name there might be Ander Alcaine. The Leafs invited the Spanish goalie who played in France to the camp. The IIHF website posted a Q&A with him a few months ago:

He sounds like a pretty smart and astute kid!

Hope he's related to Iker Castillas, goaltending in the blood.

Coincidence?

I always find it amusing when an observant post seems to magically segue into a Toronto Star article.

Same IIHF link too.  Is the TS watching us?

Now I feel obliged to mention I "borrowed" the link from @TheGoalieGuild after a search for Alcaine on twitter.

Oh c'mon now, you're giving the Star way too much credit here.  They couldn't possibly know how to do a right and proper search on Twitter now could they?  ;)

Strictly for NHL 12 roster purposes, is Richard Greenop still Leafs property?

He's a pending RFA, but it looks like he may not have been given a qualifying offer, which would make him an UFA July 1st.

Thanks! I was running out of roster spots and only have 4 Dmen for the Marlies ;)

Some notes on a few players at the prospect camp:

Good to hear that Biggs' skating has improved.

Nice little review of some of the prospects' performance on Wednesday by Jim Hughes.  I'm hoping Jamie Devane continues to progress and maybe, just maybe, can be a Matt Kassian type this year and step into a 4'th line role.

On Wednesday, Jim Hughes, the Leafs? director of player development, offered a few impressions of the following players after the second scrimmage among prospects at camp:

MORGAN RIELLY (one assist on goal by Brendan Silk): ?Everyone would agree you?re starting to see his natural abilities come out. From the progression from yesterday to today, you can see his skill sets, his confidence, and it?s a little bit of a learning curve.?

DOMINIC TONINATO (one goal): He had a good day today. (GM Brian) Burke was impressed and really liked his play. He looks like a seasoned kid coming from a small town in northern Minnesota. He was encouraging. Looks like he?s got some good hockey sense and obviously has some ability.

JAMIE DEVANE (two goals): ?He had a better day today than yesterday. He had a nice goal and was more involved, a little bit more physical. He?s not a first-year guy now. He?s been to several of these camps. Our expectations are higher for him and the McKeggs than our newly drafted kids. He needs to make a favourable impression so we see where he stands moving into the main camp.?

DAVID BROLL (one goal): ?Broll was good. Not as good as yesterday, however he had another good day. Nice goal off an Andrew Crescenzi face off win. Great job protecting the puck. It?s hard to get it away from him. He doesn?t throw it away blindly. He holds it, he buys time and he buys space."

Does it sound like this Rielly kid might make the team this year?

It sounds like he looks good compared to other prospects. That's really the extent of it.

Yup. No matter how good this kid looks, it would be smart for them to keep him in Junior this year. Especially after the limited number of games he played this past year: Let him get a full season under his belt, play in the WJC, and maybe a playoff run with the Marlies if his Junior year is over...
