Over the last week, the Leafs held their prospect camp. Prior to that a good draft.

Since the site got corrupted, here's a bunch of links, audio & video for those looking to get filled in:

Thanks for these, cw. I've heard really good things about both Blacker and Gardiner from this, particularly in regards to their skating. It'll be really nice if they could crack the lineup in the new couple of years, as speed and skating are definitely the biggest weaknesses on our blue line right now.

Good lord cw, you really are a content-generating machine.

Thankfully he remembered most of the old discussions that were going on. Not to mention there has been a bit of Leafs related news.

Round 6

David Broll - Round 6 saw some older players go who I have been high on for a while, with Nathan Lieuwen (Buffalo) and Pathrik Westerholm (Vancouver), but the best pick of the round was the very first when Toronto selected Broll.

After selecting Tyler Biggs in the first round, the Leafs set themselves up with what will quite possibly be the most terrifying combo in the league if the two steamrollers end up on the same line. Broll can be considered Biggs-light and when he gets going he is a near impossible force to stop. Broll is a great pick that Leafs Nation should be able to get behind quite easily.

Rumour has it that Mitchell Heard, who was at the Rookie Camp last month has signed an ATO and will play in the the upcoming Rookie Tournament.

Yes, I believe I Heard about that. God is the Leafs news slow. How about we all send this site to ten Leaf fans we know and hopefully bring a lot of new blood and insights into this forum.

From all the Leafs prospects I think Kadri will definitely start with the big club and Gardiner will somehow find his way onto the team. The rest of the guys like Colborne and Blacker need more seasoning in the AHL.

I just read the roster for the rookie tournament and there are some names on there to be excited about. It's nice to see the organization getting stronger.

Sweet baby jesbus, no!

We'd end up with half of Woodbridge in here.

Is there any truth to this? Did Biggs actually try out for the team?

He was cut from Team USA's summer camp for the World Juniors, which typically closely resembles what their final roster will look like in December/January. He could still make the team in the end if injuries strike or if he is having a very impressive season up to that point.

It's definitely disappointing that he was cut, but it's also not the end of the world. First, it sounds like he wasn't really given a fair chance at camp, and was often played in a 4th line role. Second, he would have been one of the youngest players on the team, and in a tournament typically dominated by players a year older than he is. Third, as I already mentioned, it's still possible he makes the team in the end. And finally, he already has Team USA experience, as he was captain of their U-18 team last year. So while he may have to sit out this year, I'm sure he'll be looked at very closely next year when he's older.

Tom Nilsson (D)had a nice season with Mora IK. 4g 6a and 45pims in 44 games. Not bad considering he is playing in a mensleauge (Tier 2) and is a defensive d-man. And yeah he laid quite a few nice hits. Unfortunatly i cant find any videos of it.

Petter Granberg (D) also had a steady season playing 38 games for Skellefte? in the swedish eliteleauge. Scoring 1g and 3a with 10 pims. He also played 6 games in the junior league scoring 6 points in 5 games. He seemed to get better later in the season and got to play a long playoffs when his team made it to the finals. He played 19 games in the playoffs and scored 1g and 1 a with 12pims.

Daniel Brodin (LW/RW) had a rough year. Scoring only 2g and 5a with 28pims in 46 games. His team Djurg?rden (Sundins old team) had a disaster of a season eventually falling out of the eliteleauge and will play next season in the tier 2 leauge.

Daniel Brodin signed with finnish team "?sset". So another player lost for Djurg?rden after being degraded.

mirtle: Leafs sign Swedish defenceman Petter Granberg to a three-year entry level contract. A fourth-rounder in 2010.
