The A.L.'s worst team the Chicago White Sox (40-62) will play host to the Toronto Blue Jays (49-56) in this three-game series here in Chicago.
The White Sox have made a few trades/changes to their roster ahead of today's MLB trade deadline, in a desperate bid to shore up their lineup. The fact that the White Sox own the worst record in the American League and are a whopping 16.5 GBL Cleveland in the A.L. Central, including 14.5 GBWC spot, can attest to that.
The Blue Jays, having come off an amazing comeback in the final game of their three-game series against the LAAngels in Toronto, are continuing to hope to salvage their season even though they are 8.0 GBL New York Yankees in the A.L. East Division, and 7.0 GBWC spot. Barring any unforeseen moves at today's trade deadline, the Jays will most likely go with their lineup intact, save for those who are on the DL -- Devon Travis & Tulowitzki (indefinitely) as well as Aaron Sanchez.
The loss of Sanchez stings the most on the rotation. That blistered finger simply doesn't enjoy throwing baseballs this year. That's probably the biggest frustration Jays skipper Gibbons wished he didn't have.
Of course, Marco Estrada, Francisco Liriano both pitched well in their last outings. For Estrada, there was a bright spot that he could be turning his sorry season around. For Liriano, the subject of a possible trade, he put his very best out on display. Hmm.
The road has not been too friendly for the Jays this year (22-30). They'll need to turn that around and what better way than to start against a lowly team such as the White Sox. The last time the Jays played a low team (the Oakland Athletics) they swept them clean. That was in their most recent homestand. Let's hope the Jays can do the same here on the road starting tonight.
GO JAYS GO!
