The Toronto Blue Jays (73-83) visit Fenway Park for a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox (91-64).

Toronto, long out of the running for a playoff berth, will continue playing for pride and the role of spoilers.

Boston, on the other hand, whose magic number to clinch the A.L. East Division is 3, will be seeking to sweep the Blue Jays to not only clinch their place in the post-season, but to also be crowned the A.L. East's best.  With the New York Yankees 5 GB the Red Sox in the quest for Division winner, the Bosox have a chance to quash those Yankee aspirations in this series against Toronto.

Speaking of the Blue Jays, the youngsters continue to impress, the pitching continues to stabilize particularly for the likes Happ, Estrada, and even Stroman.  When the Jays offence gets going, there isn't much teams can do to stop it.  When it doesn't, then it's a different story.

This will be the second-to-last road series of the Jays' season, having just closed out their most recent and last homestead of the year, by taking two out of three from the Yankees.  New York, however, clinched their playoff berth (WC) with the lone win in that series.

Blue Jays 6  Red Sox 4

Josh Donaldson and Ryan Goins both hit homers driving in runs as the Blue Jays took one from the Bosox and denied Boston a chance to climb closer to clinching the A.L. East title.

Jays' starter Brett Anderson lasted five innings allowing three runs but got the win.  Osuna his 38th save of the year.

The Jays' got to Bosox starter Drew Pomeranz early beginning with Donaldson's home run plus three RBIs,  including a Goins homer and a Hernandez double.
Speaking of Hernandez, he set a Blue Jay franchise record for hitting three straight homers in three consecutive games prior to this one.

Blue Jays 9  Red Sox  4

For the second straight night, the Red Sox's starting pitchers were made miserable by a powerful array of Blue Jay bats.

The starter in question was Bosox ace Chris Sale, who had until this game, practically owned the Blue Jays' bats.  He seemed untouchable, no make that unhittable to Toronto's offence, but eventually, as it is said, what goes around, cones around...

...and boy, didn't the Blue Jays come around!  First Donaldson, The Bringer of Rain, with two homers, then Hernandez & Morales with a two run blast..  (Hernandez also hit a three-run shot in the eighth inning to cement the Jays'  victory). All in all, it was only the second time that Sale has allowed four home runs in a game career-wise.

On the other end, Jays' starter J.A. Happ pitched brilliantly, allowing a run and striking out nine.  He played seven innings before being relieved by Matt Dermody & Luis Santos who closed out the ninth.
