Steve Ott

There was talk at the deadline about him. I would Love to get him on the team if its a decent trade, gritty character player who will make the HBO Winter Classic show that much more entertaining. Whats everyone opinion on him?

I think more than a few people here have said they would welcome him with open arms in a bottom six role. He's exactly the type of guy you love to have on your team.

There are a couple of concerns, he's likely going to get a decent raise and they already have a significant chunk of cap tied up in Lombardi, Connolly and Armstrong who are all scheduled to be in the bottom six.

UFA Ott is getting the same billing as UFA Armstrong got and there is the chance you wind up with a poor price performance unmovable asset and we have a plethora of those as is.

If they can ship out a couple of the deadwood contracts they have I'd like to see them take a run at Ott.

I think I would prefer to throw Ott's $2.95 MIL at Gaustaud and get 5 inches taller and 35 lbs heavier at the same age and role and not lose any assets on an older player.

Yeah, I hated it when the Leafs played against Gaustad when he was on the Sabers so I would love to have him on our team.  It'd be a real kick in the face to the Sabers having him on our side now versus the other way around.

Much as I would like to see them add an ott or tootoo or gaustad, I don't see there being room on the forward lines for more additions without subtractions first.

Offtopic but I still wish we had cashed in macarthur at the deadline for that 1st.

Just saw Steve at the theater coming out of the same movie that we were in "Brave".  Told him Toronto would be a great place to start the second half of his career.  He smiled then I said its closer to home and easier for Dad to see his games.  He smiled again and said winning in Toronto would be nuts.
