I thought I read somewhere that he was actually cleared to play at the end of the year (not sure though). Just based on the type of player he is I wouldn't be surprised to see him continue to play the way he did before until he ca no longer do so - it just seems like that's the pasionate way he plays (and maybe the only way he can keep a spot on the roster).

i hope he does bring it, i like him. them knocks to the bean do slow you down though, i have been there and i can confirm that to be true..

I didn't listen to the podcast but I keep seeing Brendan Morrison's name.  Don't we have cap space for him?  He just seems like such a smart insurance policy on the 3rd or 4th lines in case the injury bug hits one of our major guys.  43 points in 66 games and a +13 in 16 minutes of ice time per game.  Maybe he's asking for a lot or a multi-year deal?  I'd happily push Bozak to the 4th line to make room for that guy.

Me too. He's recovering from a knee injury. Prognosis seems ok but he and NHL teams may be waiting until he's closer or cleared by his docs. He may not be ready to start the season ...

Anybody willing to take a chance on Schremp? He just turned 25, would be cheap, and if he didn't work out he could certainly play for the Marlies....Guy's got some skill....Not comparing him in any shape or form but Marty S. Louis did nothing until he was 26 years old. Could lightning strike twice or is it a matter of effort with him?

I think his game is better suited to the top 6 and we really needed bottom guys, if at all.

why is luke schenn not signed yet?

Vacations? Burke said he's not worried about it. But I think it's because a few teams with RFA guys are waiting for comparables. The Schenn brothers are in BC vacationing and Burke and Nonis are fishing, maybe in BC too.

What's the deal with JP Dumont? Was there some reason he had such a terrible year last year (ie. injury)? Only 33 and a huge drop off in points.

Slow and a liability defensively. Still has good offensive skills though.

I think he was very much in Trotz doghouse too for whatever reason. He could probably be a productive player somewhere, but I have no interest in him for the Leafs. He doesn't fit anywhere.

What about Drury for el cheapo?

I honestly wouldn't mind that. Especially if he's fine with a 4th line role. I think his connection with Team USA and Burke/Wilson would help that along though. But with our logjam of centres at this point, I don't think it's likely.

I don't think I would mind it either, but I can't see it as likely...especially given what they're purportedly looking for - a (younger?) larger body that can win faceoffs...a 5'10" 35 year old...

Granted, he would bring some decent leadership and defensive play...just the opposite on the size side of things.

I'm not opposed to it, but aren't they signing too many injury risks as it is?

A lot of people have talked about the team's interest in being young and why that's a reason to not sign player X but I have to say, if that is an accurate reflection of how the current staff is thinking it strikes me as really shortsighted. For a team with a bottom 6 as crummy as the Leafs have the idea of not having one spot available for a guy to provide veteran leadership just doesn't make sense to me. Especially on a team like the Leafs that has a number of guys who've had their attitudes questioned in the past.

(not directly specifically at you Omallley, just saying in general.)
