2023 Blue Jays thread

I just think his contract is up end of this season isn?t it? Maybe I?m wrong.

And Jays may not make the playoffs so that may be him done with the club.

He didn?t pitch too well today at all.

Jays odds of missing the playoffs are pretty small. One win or one Seattle or Houston loss, and they?re in.

Are you new to Toronto sports?

1987 was a long time ago.

Ryu is terrible.

Ryu was a very important part of the rotation when he returned in August and through the middle of September, whrre he had a stretch of 8 starts with a 2.04 ERA.

With Manoah's terrible year and the lack of any minor league rotation depth, I'm not sure the jays are in the playoffs without him.

This is how I found out the Jays clinched a playoff berth

I'm not sold on Ryu. He has his good games, but he has baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad ones too. It's funny, a year ago I was saying the same about Kikuchi, and he's turned it around and is pitching pretty well now. Bassitt, Berrios and Gausman are all fantastic. It's our mid and closing pitching that is the most susceptible. Romano's been terrible the last few games he pitched, but that should right itself hopefully.

It?s been a really weird season. They?ve made the playoffs and more or less had the same record as last season , all be it the schedule has fewer games within the division (thankfully). But I don?t think they?ve ever actually played to their potential. The pitching has probably carried them.

I don?t think at any stage they?ve looked like a convincing team.

But now they?re in, who knows.

So the Twins have lost 18 straight playoff games going back to 2004.

They're sweeping the Jays, aren't they?

Sounds like the Leafs, but it really depends on which Jays team shows up today.

Great start.

Didn?t realise the Jays had lost 5 playoff games in a row also. All be it they?ve won a few since 2004.

God Bo that was so stupid.

My wife sent a WhatsApp from the other room to remind me not to swear so audibly in case our 5 year old learns new words he?s not ready for when Bo did that

It kind of irks me how the commentators are all over Gausman but said Bo had good instincts on that play. He was thrown out and it wasn't even close and we could've loaded the bases with what, 1 out?

*edit: To be fair they didn't blame Gausman for the loss but they were quite critical. Making a needlessly risky play for a single run in that situation where it wasn't even close made no sense to be and shouldnt be defended.
