Insane contract but if Winnipeg wins the Cup totally worth it.

I think Poehling's had a couple solid seasons with Philly (heck, unless Laughton really steps up next season you could argue we would have been better off going after him), but yeah that still feels like a very light return on Zegras. Surprised they didn't give him a chance to play under Quenneville. That’s it?
Can we get McTavish for Niemela and Hirvonen and a 6th
I think he's still young enough that it makes total sense for a team like Philly to take a chance on him. If you can get him back to his 21/22 and 22/23 seasons they're laughing. If not they're out a (rather good) 4C and a couple of picks (which they have lots of) and he doesn't get qualified next year. Worth the risk I think. Especially because while I don't think Zegras should escape blame for his performances the past two seasons I also get the feeling Greg Cronin wasn't the kind of coach that pushed the right buttons there. Rick Tocchet can be seen as a hard ass sometimes too but players seem to love playing for him, I think that's maybe the best fit in all of this.Do we think Zegras is worth that much considering his last two injury plagued seasons? I mean, he's scored a couple neat goals and had a good rookie and sophmore season, but hasn't been much since then. 32 points in 57 games isnt' exactly screaming "I need that guy". Especially at 5.75m
While Zegras has become overrated, that's still quite the light return.
Also, was really hoping Anaheim would take Kampf off the Leafs' hands, but that's probably off the table now.

At his best, he’s been a 60ish point guy, which is fair for his contract. If he can get back near that, it’s a good deal for Philly. If he’s settled in as a 40-50 point guy, it’s just an okay deal. Wouldn’t actually represent a huge upgrade on Poehling if that’s how it plays out (when you factor in the offensive and defensive contributions each player makes). He also is probably best suited on the wing rather than down the middle, so, not a guy that would have been high on my list of targets. Too many question marks and doesn’t address the position that most teams really need help at.Do we think Zegras is worth that much considering his last two injury plagued seasons? More than a bit. Without moving out cap, they can't do much beyond retaining Bouchard.Hmm, trade prices seem pretty attractive so far (Oilers were a bit up against the cap)
This is the kind of trade I would have made in mid/late July if other options didn't work out and we had cap space to burn. I do think Kane will be very motivated to prove people wrong in what is very conveniently a contract season too and can see him putting up some solid numbers (certainly wouldn't want to be the team to re-sign him long term after that though).Sounds like Evander Kane has been traded to the Canucks.
