The New York Rangers were posting mediocre results when they lost their home opener to the Toronto Maple Leafs nearly six weeks ago.  They?re now among the hottest teams in the NHL, and that?s especially true at Madison Square Garden.  The Rangers look to extend their longest home winning streak in 21 years Monday night when they face the Maple Leafs.

New York (15-5-3) went 3-2-2 during a season-opening seven-game, three-country road trip before falling 4-2 to Toronto (14-10-2) on Oct. 27, getting outshot 26-14 in the final two periods. The Rangers followed that up with a 5-4 shootout loss to Ottawa in Manhattan two days later.

Since then, they?re 12-2-0 to move among the best teams in the league, and success at home is playing a major role. New York has outscored opponents 26-10 to win seven in a row at MSG, the team?s longest run there within a single season since winning the first eight home games of 1990-91.

My girlfriend and I are in Midtown Manhattan right now and we managed to get tickets for tonight!  Looking forward to going to the game tonight.

2-1 Leafs.  Grabbo really stepped it up when his dad visited last year, I'm expecting similar. :P
 
Much like the Boston games, I'm not upset if the Leafs lose right now.  The Rangers are playing incredibly well and they have a goaltender who can completely shut down the best offensive players in the league.    That being said, I don't see the same mismatch in terms of the Leafs ability to break down the Rangers defense. There isn't a Zdeno Chara out there on the ice to prevent Kessel from getting scoring opportunities.

You're a much better man than I am that way, LK. I always get upset. It's nice that we've improved enough to contend a playoff spot this year and that's the big picture I suppose but we're in a fight nevertheless... know what I mean?
 
Rangers have the best home record in hockey but it was our Leafs who gave them their only loss at home. We may need another uncharacteristic softie given up by Lundqvist. The Rangers are playing really well.

They've won 5 straight, I see them as due for a loss.
 
I feel scared about this one. Lundqvist probably won't be giving any away like last time.

1. Because scratching a player is not a magic cure-all for their struggles
2. Because the best chance the Leafs have to win the game is with Kulemin in the lineup
3. Pursuant to #2, the Leafs want to win this game
