Odor punches Bautista in the face.

This whole thing was a farce.  It's nonsense like this that prevents baseball from being my favourite sport.

Matt Bush, who was in jail when the Jays faced the Rangers, intentionally throws at Bautista to get their "revenge" on a bat flip.  That should be an automatic ejection but is just a warning from the umpire.  That's that stupid baseball code acting up again.

Then Bautista with a dirty slide on Odor at 2nd (last year was fair game, this year it's dirty).  Then Odor acts like a moron and thinks he's Ali and tries to knock Bautista out.  Then the benches clear.

Underlying the whole situation.  The bullpen blew yet another game.

Actually, Beltre held Jose practically out of harm's way.

Guess these Texas Rangers haven't forgiven or forgotten.  If that's how Matt Bush & co. want it,  then fine.  Just don't expect the Jays to keep lame about it.  As Jose demonstrated, they won't.

Too bad they didn't do that in game 1 though. Jays won't play them again this season (barring a playoff rematch)

Well that's exactly why they did it when they did. Gutless to say the least. If they wanted to apply the 'code' this should have happened in their first meeting. Instead they get an ex-con pitcher to do it and then get their knickers in a knot when Bautista takes offence

Yeah, and Bautista most likely won't even be on the Jays next season as well.

Odor is pissed by Bautista's take out slide?

Odor's own work last year:

Odor's 'throw' was aimed at Bautista's head: https://streamable.com/oxon

I wonder what Odor'll get slapped with for the sucker punch?

Much respect for Beltre for immediately trying to limit the mayhem and damage.
Umpires failed to control the game. We're better off with robots.

The whole baseball fight thing is such a riot. Even after Odor punched Bautista in the face, Jose came back with a bunch of open-hand, flailing slaps. Just silliness.

Apparently Odor is a bit of a nut... see link. Shove followed by a punch, a carbon copy.

Anyway, Bautista is not popular outside of Toronto because he plays with a chip on his shoulder that doesn't go over well with anyone including the Umps but those who watch him know that chip makes him a better player and when he's angry he's actually better. I hope he still plays with that chip even though he got punched hard. I kind of hope the whole baseball world including the umps relax their negative view for Bautista now that they feel "vengeance" has been served.

Odor 8, Andrus 1, Gibbons 3, Bautista 1, Pilar fined, Chavez 3, Donaldson 0. I can't believe Odor would say to the media he regrets nothing, I am sure that Torre didn't take to kindly to those words.

Yeah Odor is super clean.

On the bottom left picture, someone should elbow him to the head

I've read comments (not here) about how Bautista's slide was dirty and he's a goon and should have been suspended longer, and I can't help but sigh and roll my eyes. I agree that the slide was illegal and warranted a suspension, but people acting like all of a sudden it's such a heinous violation of the spirit of baseball just makes me laugh. A few months ago that slide was not only perfectly legal but also encouraged.

Ah well. Gutless Rangers are gutless. Moving on.

The game is slowly becoming 'confusing' as to just what constitutes a proper slide, a clean slide, a high slide, a low slide, a smooth slide, a rough slide, a this slide and a that slide...enough with rules.  Let baseball be baseball!

I hated how the Rangers coach was raising his hands up and down after the fight was over trying to get the crowd to cheer for what had just happened. Just like a hockey player egging the crowd on after a fight. I think it's low brow especially from a manager and thought it could justify a suspension as well.

Would you say his conduct had an odor to it?

I have to say, I don't watch baseball, but I'm outraged that there wasn't a single lame pun in this entire thread. For shame.
