The last time the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays met was at Rogers Centre in Toronto in early May, where the Jays swept the Mariners in a four-game series.

Since then, Seattle has improved it's record to .500 (30-30), while the Blue Jays (29-31) are still in search of that elusive mark.  The Mariners have been on a  tear of late, having won their last nine out of ten games.

The Blue Jays lost two out of three against the Oakland A's in their first road trip for the month of June.  Not a whole lot of luck in that California series but at least they salvaged a win to prevent an A's sweep.  Gosh, how long will it be before the Jays reach the .500 level?  A while, unless they put together a string of wins beginning here at Safeco Field against the Mariners.  Let's hope so.

GO JAYS GO!

Blue Jays 2  Mariners 4

Safeco Field was a sea of blue as in Blue Jay fans galore, but not even all the cheering in the world could have helped the Jays in yesterday's game.

Jays' starting pitcher Joe Biagini, though brilliant as he was through seven innings, just couldn't prevent the Mariners from scoring the only two go-ahead runs they would need in the top of the seventh inning.
Oh, that one hurt for Biagini.  It certainly was the run that got away.

Or perhaps one could say that about the Jays futile efforts to spread their runs on the basepaths, which were thwarted neatly by some clever Seattle defence.  Frustrating no doubt

"Bottom line was that we didn?t score more than two runs," Toronto manager John Gibbons said.

How do you spell r-e-l-i-e-f?  S-t-r-o-m-a-n, plus plenty of home runs.  And a raucously joyful Blue Jays crowd over 12,000 strong!

Call this game yesterday's role reversal from game one (where the Jays lost by an identical score).  Stroman the starter was superb in collecting his seventh win, while the Jays' bats were busy with home runs by Morales (two-run shot), Cabrera, & Smoak each with solos.

In Friday's game, it was the Blue Jays who scored first and who were ahead.  In yesterday's (Saturday's) game, it was Seattle ahead in the count, but with Toronto mounting a solid comeback with Cabrera's homer breaking the 2-2 deadlock in the eighth inning.

Some good defensive work helped Stroman keep the lid on the Mariners attempts to get on the board.

An interesting note was a change made prior to the game with Darwin Barney taking Goins place on the roster.

Good job, guys!

Blue Jays  4  Mariners  0

Bring on the rain!  Josh Donaldson, the Blue Jays' so-called "Bringer of Rain" hit a two-run homer and had collectively three RBI, in leading the Jays to victory in yesterday afternoon's rubber match.

Jays' starter J.A. Happ finally got his first win of the season as Toronto took two out of three from Seattle.  It is worth noting that of the Jays' 21 runs scored in this three-game series, fifteen of those were home-run driven.
Detinitely good news for those waiting to see the Jays' bats come alive with the long bombs on the road.

Though starter Happ got the win, the Blue Jays utilized a comb of relievers with Osuna  getting the eventual save.
