There are a lot of people that don?t know the difference between various large wild cats

So, weirdly, this came up as a question around my house not so long ago, and, as it turn out, panthers are not a specific type of cat, but rather, a class of cats - specifically, most of the bigger cats. That leopard? It's a panther.

Yes, but in the context of Florida, the wild cat endemic in that region and referenced on their logo is a Puma concolor coryi. The leopard in that logo is from Africa (Panthers pardus pardus). Way too many people think this is a cheetah too. I can understand the jaguar guesses (Jacksonville!), but they have similar but different spots.

All this discussion around what is a Panther....what the heck is this schedule.

Game 6 ended last night on a Monday.  We don't start the Finals until Saturday.  Two days off between Game 3 and Game 4.  Two days off between Game 4 and Game 5.  Two days off between Game 5 and Game 6.  Game 6 and Game 7.

16 days if this series goes 7 games.  20 days between now and the potential end of the playoffs.  What even is this schedule.

The soon to be lowest watched in TV terms SCF in a long while?

And we get an important answer. Florida touched the conference title trophy. Vegas didn't.

If Florida win, the superstition is nonsense. If Vegas win, clearly we all need to stop walking under ladders and breaking mirrors or opening our umbrellas indoors.

And another interesting fun fact, Florida Panther kittens are born with spots.

If that was the Leafs, and they put in a Japanese Maple Leaf, we would all be SCREAMING!

There's a lot of time before the Finals start for a team to make a big GM hire without stealing all the spotlight from the games.

Maybe all that time off gave Bobrovsky a chance to get in his own head and revert to normal Bob? Next time the Leafs need to ask for a week off in between games. :D

Vegas goals scorers last night:

Marchessault x2, left exposed by FLA in the expansion draft despite coming off a 30-goal season
Martinez, acquired from LA for a pair of 2nd rounders
Roy, acquired from CAR for Erik Haula
Howden x2, acquired from NYR for a 4th rounder
Amadio, claimed off waivers from TOR

Chandler Stephenson led the team in ice-time, was acquired from WSH for a 5th rounder.

I remember Shanahan wanted to hire Kelly McCrimmon to our AGM pile back then.
Vegas knows their template well and Bruce Cassidy is clearly no slouch in getting them to play very solid defensively and attacking with pace. They are very much a goalie-agnostic team.

They're also extremely aggressive on the market (Pietrangelo, Eichel) and have the ruthlessness to cut bait on formerly key players that is all completely forgotten when the Cup and banner are raised.

Don't forget getting Mark Stone for a song too.

And they aren't just ruthless with their players. 3 different head coaches in 6 seasons.

Oh yeah, Mark Stone (9.5M) who was conveniently out all season with an injury until the playoffs started.

Their pro scouting is top notch. They play like fasstholes.

Also, Theodore basically for free, because Anaheim really tried to galaxy brain the expansion draft.

Eichel also came pretty cheap, considering the impact on the Knights' roster.
