Seems a little soon, Gilmour waited 6 years and Wendel waited 8, and for what it's worth, they both retired as Leafs.
Mats has been out of hockey for only two seasons, and retired as a Canuck.
Don't get me wrong, he is one of the all-time greats, but I think that the fact that he ended elsewhere should count against him in team honours, such as number-raising ceremonies. It should happen, but if we held off a year or two, I'd be okay with that. Plus, if we waited two or three, we might be able to do it with the Nordiques in town.
