All the news that's fit to coach.

It's the summer, so there's very little for me to say here except, well, let's be fair it's pretty clear that Wilson not having a deal past this year means he's on a short leash. Slow start and he's a goner.

I think I'd prefer another coach...........not sure who, I just feel Wilson isn't the best guy to move forward with the team that is being assembled.

Short leash indeed.  He no longer can hang on to the excuse of bodies coming and going and not having "his" team put in place going forward.

I don't mind seeing him get the chance.  We have seen Stajan, White and Kulemin to name a few get better under his tutelage, so I'm not totally against him teaching this group.  Whether he is the one to take them over the top in a few years (thus warranting an extension) is something I question.

Why bring this back. the leafs were following the coach and winning. so how can you call for his head, you must not be a real leaf fan. or you are just one of them people that will never be happy no matter what management does.

I think we go into the season with the coach we have and hope he keeps the guys playing like he did once he got some real players.

In fairness, reading is hard.

sorry all, am not a fan of dissing my team when they have been playing well. so i will stand up for them, sometimes to quick.

I'd love this to be the "Permanently Fire Ron Wilson" thread, but hopefully I don't have to see that.  I just don't see how he has done anything to suggest he can get more out of a Leafs roster, and I think you need to see that element out of a coach that is capable of winning.

I have a feeling Burke will be keeping a close eye on Wilson this season. If he doesn't get the job done (i.e. the Leafs are out of it again by Christmas), I think a change will be made.

Hold on guys. You sure you want to be labeled as not a real Leafs fan by nutman?

Would that be the same as being labeled as not a real Canadian for not cheering for the Canucks / Habs / Sens / etc. in the playoffs?

I would miss Wilson not sticking it to the media over their dumb questions, snarky accusations and self-righteous assessments.

That is why it's so crucial for this team to play well in the first-half of the season (if they are to have a chance at being called " improved", and Burke will have to take more than one factor before determining if Wilson goes, such as how well the players are responding & coalescing with the coach's system and overall communication.  Very important, more for Wilson's future than anyone else.  The challenge will definitely be his to take.

Nothing like a polarizing title to get things going.

Does anyone really think Wilson is the greatest though? I think the Leafs could do way, way worse but he's not without his flaws. The team didn't seem to quit on him last year so that's something.

To what effect the new assistants will have and a full year of Reimer ( nothing says good coaching like great goaltending, or is that a good to be lucky thing... ;) ) will be interesting to see.
