World Junior Hockey Championships (WJC) 2014

Team Canada defeated Team Germany 7-2, led by Anthony Mantha's hat-trick.  Jonathan Drouin assisted on each of Mantha's goals, while Canadian wunderkind Connor McDavid assisted on two others.  Even though Germany took the lead, there was no looking back after Mathew Dumba's goal tied the game, which saw Canada unleash it's offensive prowess.

Anderson, Reinhart, Horvat & Petan were the other Canadian scorers.

It's a little unnerving that they were down 1-0 and tied 2-2 against a weak team like the German's. Hopefully we see a better effort today against the Czech's

Czechs are holding on, leading 2-1 after 2, shots on goal 18 to 16 Canada.

That's exactly what I thought too.  Giving up a lead to, of all teams, Germany??!!  Perhaps it was a case of Team Canada not paying too close attention to their own game.  At least, the Canadians woke up in time to unleash their offensive power.

I'll be honest, I didn't know much about Anthony Manthra at the time of the 2013 draft. But the kid is looking like an absolute steal at 20 right now. One pick ahead of Gauthier unfortunately.

Well team Canada had it all tied it up again, bu the Czechs keep coming back.

Edit: and now Canada ties it up yet again. SEE-SAW battle today.

Let's get the lead boys!!!!!!

This game is crazy - Canada has owned the play, both in terms of chances and puck possession. Now I know how all teams that have played the Leafs and lost this year feel.

Nobody expects medal for the Czechs so taking Canada to an overtime and take the game in a shootout is pretty impressive. They made me happy.

Kinda disappointed Gauthier isn't getting much ice time for Canada so far in this tournament.

I think he's going to have an NHL future, but defensive players with limited offensive ability tend not to get a lot of ice-time at these tournaments.  It was a big stretch to draft him in the 1st round IMO.  I think its going to be a pick that the Leafs regret down the road.
