2025-26 General Trades & Signings

You always gotta be a little skeptical of offensive numbers for players on a team where defence is optional. That's my biggest red flag with Peterka right now. Entirely possible he keeps putting up points but it wouldn't be the first time a guys numbers were inflated just by playing big minutes on a bad team.

He also had the highest 5v5 on-ice SH% in the entire league. Something tells me that won’t be sustainable.

Not that I expect him to sign for something like this but it's crazy that this contract makes more sense for Tavares to sign for here than it does for Edmonton to sign Frederic to.
It's an insane contract for Frederic. It might not look too bad near the end if the cap keeps going up and he can regain some of his offensive output, but, near-term, it's bad - especially for a team with cap issues and prominent contract situations they need to get resolved. Unless they move out another significant contract, they're basically filling their roster with league minimum guys once they re-sign Bouchard. And, even if they do move out a contract, if that money doesn't basically all go to Jake Allen, they're not moving the needle much.

Definitely banking on the rebound there. He's a good add, but also, is he what the Habs needs? Seems to me like they need more help up front.
Ya the price doesn't seem that crazy but with Hutson already there you'd think they would have used those picks and cap space on something else. Still having one of those two on the ice at almost all times is gonna make moving the puck up the ice a breeze for them. How the PP minutes shake out will be interesting.

The NHL found a way to make the draft drag on even longer and make it worse. It's taking 20 minutes a pick
