I dunno this all assumes that this means there's something that Max Domi, the same one whose career high in assists is 44, was able to do something to get Matthews' personal shooting percentage and on-ice shooting percentage to hit rates that he's never had over the course of a full season before in his career. That stretch really just screams crazy unsustainable hot streak to me.
And I'm not saying they couldn't have any (offensive) success again if they played on a line together. The big concern is that Matthews' usage would have to dramatically change (as it did when they first played together) and as it stands the Leafs still need him to perform in match-up roles. If they acquire a Phillip Danault-type player then sure them playing together could possibly make a lot of sense.
